Chill in Heaven or Burn in Hell?

The belief in the Day of Judgement is a fundamental of Islam. This is when Allah (swt) will be the only Judge and no-one will be able to help us - not even our own parents! On the Day of Judgement, the hair of a child will turn grey. [Bukhari]. This shows the severity of that Day where even children will be stricken with fear, although they are innocent and going to Heaven (Jannah). The only thing which will benefit us will be our good deeds. We will either be told that we have been successful thus will go into Heaven, or have failed so will end up in Hell.

Heaven

What does Heaven look like?

The Qur’an and Hadith reveal many detailed descriptions of Heaven:

  • The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) was asked the question: “O Rasulullaah. What is Jannah made of?” The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) replied: “It is made of bricks of gold and silver, its mortar is of strongly scented musk, its gravels are made of pearls and rubies and its clay that of saffron.” [Tirmidhi].
  • “It is made of bricks of gold and silver, its mortar is of strongly scented musk, its gravels are made of pearls and rubies and its clay that of saffron.” [Tirmidhi].
  • There are rivers of milk, wine and pure honey. [Qur’an 47:15].
  • The wine which would be consumed would be clean therefore would not cause any intoxication or any other problems. [Qur’an 37:45-47].
  • There will be trees but the trunks will be made of gold and have pearls with dates clinging from them.
  • Heaven will be very spacious, and just to give you an idea of how large it will be, the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said: “Jannah contains a hundred stages; each of them has the capacity to accommodate the entire population of the world.” [Tirmidhi].
  • It has been mentioned that Heaven has eight gates and they will be guarded by angels who have been assigned by Allah (swt). The distance between two gates is like the distance from Makkah and Hajar, but due to the number of people who will be entering Heaven, the wide gates will seem narrow. [Muslim].

However, all the descriptions given of Heaven are insufficient, because Allah (swt) says:

“I have prepared for My righteous slaves that which no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and has never crossed the mind of any human being.” [Hadith Qudsi]

So no matter how wide our imagination is, we will never be able to contemplate what Heaven actually looks like. Just to illustrate this point further, the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said:

“A space the size of a whip in Paradise is better than this world and all that is in it”. [Bukhari]

Who will enter Heaven?

There are many people who will enter Heaven, and they have been mentioned in the Qur’an and Hadith:

  • The first person to enter Heaven will be Prophet Muhammad (saw), as he said: “I will come to the gate of Paradise and ask for it to be opened. The gatekeeper will ask, ‘Who are you?’ I will say, ‘Muhammad.’ The gatekeeper will say, ‘I was ordered not to open the gate for anyone else before you.’” [Muslim].
  • The first nation to enter Paradise will be the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad (saw), and the first person of this Ummah (second person after the Prophet (saw)) to enter Heaven will be Abu Bakr (ra).
  • There will be seventy thousand people who will enter Heaven without being called into account on the Day of Judgement, so they will skip all the trials and tribulations which most people will face. [Ahmad, Tirmidhi].
  • The poor will enter Heaven before the rich; the time ranges from forty to five hundred years. So the poor will be in Heaven while the rich are still waiting to go in. [Bukhari, Tirmidhi].
  • Muslim sinners who are sent to Hell will eventually enter Heaven by the mercy of Allah (swt) and also by the intercession of the Prophet (saw). Even if a person had an atom’s weight of faith in their heart, they will be taken out of Hell.
  • The last person to enter Heaven will be a man who will be crawling out of Hell on all four limbs. He will be the lowest in status among the people of Heaven. However, he will be given ten times this Earth and everything in it - something that even the highest person in this world can’t achieve. [Bukhari].

We will all face many trials and tribulations on the Day of Judgement. The deeds of every person will be weighed up, and if their good deeds are heavier, they are destined for Heaven. On that Day, whichever hand your book of deeds is given to you will also depend on where you go. If it is given in your right hand then you are considered to be safe [Qur’an 84:7-8], but if it is given in your left hand then you know there’s a problem, as the person will say:

“I wish that I had not been given my Record!” [Qur’an 69:25-31]

On the Day of Judgement, a believer who suffered the most in this world will be dipped into Heaven for a moment and then they will be taken out and Allah (swt) will ask him: “O My servant, did you ever feel any suffering in your life?” He will reply “No, by Allah”. So just a moment in Heaven is able to make him forget all the pain he suffered in this world; how beautiful Heaven must be.

What will the people of Heaven do, and what has Allah (swt) promised them?

As the people are going into Heaven, the angels will be saying “Peace be upon you!” and congratulating them and the people of Heaven will enter with honour. [Qur’an 39:73]. After the people have entered they will be grateful and “They will say: ‘Praise be to Allah, who has truly fulfilled His promise to us, and given us (this) land in heritage; we can dwell in the Garden as we will; how excellent a reward for those who work (righteousness)!’” [Qur’an 39:74].

  • The people in Heaven will never become sick, and they will live forever and never die. [Muslim]. An old woman once came to the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) and asked him if he could pray that she would be granted Jannah. But the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said that old women will not enter Heaven so the woman left weeping. The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) then told his companions to inform her that she won’t be old at the time of entering Jannah.
  • The people will have tents made out of a single, hollowed-out pearl sixty miles wide [Muslim].
  • The people of Heaven will sweat and the smell will be fragrant, but sweating won’t occur because of the heat. There will be all kinds of fruits and when one desires to eat, it will just come to him [Ibn Kathir].
  • Everyone who enters Heaven will be free of jealousy, malice, weaknesses and any impurities.
There are many other things Allah (swt) has promised for the people of Heaven, and I can go on and on.

Hell

What does Hell look like?

Hell is not a place where anyone would want to be. The descriptions of Hell (Jahannam) and its punishments can be found in the Qur’an and Hadith:

  • The depth of Hell is unimaginable, but just to give you an idea of how deep it is, the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) was sitting with his companions when they all heard the sound of a dropping object, and the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) asked them if they knew what the sound was but they couldn’t answer. So the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said: “This is a stone which was dropped by Allah from the mouth of Jahannam, and it has landed on the bottom after 70 years of continuous falling; this was the sound of the falling of the same stone.” [Muslim].
  • Hell is surrounded by four walls, and the width of each wall is a walking distance of 40 years.
  • Hell has seven gates as Allah (swt) says: “It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned.” [Qur’an 15:44]. So the person going into Hell will enter one of these seven gates, depending on their bad deeds.
  • There will be people who deserve more punishment than others so there are different levels/layers in Hell. Regarding this, Allah (swt) says: “Verily the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths (grade) of the Fire…” [Qur’an 4:145]. So the people who angered Allah (swt) the most will be punished accordingly.
  • The fire in this world will be nothing compared to the fire in Hell. The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said: “Jahannam was heated for a thousand years and its fire turned red; it was then heated for another thousand years and it became white; it was again heated for another thousand years and it turned black. At present, Jahannam is pitch black and dark.” [Tirmidhi].
  • The Qur’an tells us that there are nineteen angels who have been assigned to be the guardians of Hell, and they do not even flinch to execute the commands of Allah (swt).

Who will be sent to Hell?

It will generally be the non-believers and Muslims who sinned. Allah (swt) says: “And We shall drive the sinner into Jahannam (like thirsty cattle driven to water).” [Qur’an 19:86]

  • The person who drinks alcohol or anything intoxicating. They will be given pus to drink in Hell. [Ahmad].
  • The person who preaches good deeds without acting on them will have their lips cut with the scissors of fire. They will be thrown into Hell where people will say to them, “You were the one who used to tell people to do good and avoid evil but didn’t do it yourself” and he will reply, “Yes”.
  • The person who boasts about their deeds will be in a ditch in Jahannam. The ditch in Jahannam is such, that Jahannam itself seeks refuge from it 400 times a day.
  • Being disobedient to our parents is a grave sin as it opens up the doors of Hell. The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) stressed the importance of obeying our parents many times and said that if our parents are pleased with us then it means Allah (swt) is also pleased with us. [Tirmidhi].
  • The sin of neglecting or ignoring the Salah (prayer) deserves the Hellfire because Salah will be the first thing we will be accounted for on the Day of Judgement. The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said: “Prayer is the foundation of Islam. Who performs it, will uphold the religion and who ignores it, it will destroy the religion.” [Muslim].
  • There are many temptations in society (especially living in the West) and unfortunately some people fall into the trap of committing illegal sexual intercourse, which is a major sin in Islam. Allah (swt) says: “Do not approach Zina (fornication/adultery); it is a gross sin, and an evil behaviour.” [Qur’an 17:32]. The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) related a dream, in which he saw naked men and women being punished in a hole in the ground that resembled a baking pit. When asked who these people were, the reply was those that indulged in Zina. [Bukhari].
  • Backbiting is also something which is unfortunately prevalent in society today. It might surprise some people, but it is a great sin. Allah (swt) says: “…Neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate back biting).” [Qur’an 49:12].

Many people will be thrown into the Hellfire. Allah (swt) says: “The Day We will ask Jahannam: ‘Are you full?’ It will say ‘Are there any more (to come?)’” [Qur’an 50:30].

How will Allah (swt) punish the people in Hell?

The people in Hell will not only burn, they will also suffer from other painful punishments.

  • The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said: “Verily, there are donkey size scorpions in Jahannam. If anyone of these stings a Jahannami, he will feel pain for 40 years.” [Ahmad].
  • As you can imagine the person in Hell will be burning and they will need something to eat and drink and what will they be given? In the Qur’an it says, Jahannamis will be given thorns to eat and boiling water to drink. They will also be given food to eat which will stick to their throat, so it will neither go in nor come out.
  • Boiling water will also be poured over their heads so they will melt away. The worst thing is that the people in Hell will never die; instead after their bodies have melted, their bodies will be restored back and this will continue so they will be in constant pain and agony.
  • Among the people in Hell, the least punishment given will be that ones shoes and laces will be made of fire and this in turn will make their brain boil like a cauldron. They will think that they are being punished the most but in fact they are being punished the least. [Bukhari, Muslim].

There are many other punishments which the people in Hell will endure. They will be screaming but the pain will be everlasting. However, the sinners who were Muslim will stay in Hell as long as Allah (swt) wills and then they will be cleansed and sent to Heaven.

h3>It’s decision time!

So what will your final destination be? Heaven… or Hell… it’s really that simple! Do you wanna chill in Heaven… or burn in Hell?!

Can you sin knowing the painful punishments that await you? Are you following what Allah (swt) and His Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) commanded, and staying away from what He and His Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) forbade? No-one said getting into Heaven was going to be easy. We must always remember that we’re only here in this world for a short period of time, and this life is only a test.

We will face many difficulties along the way but we should be patient and never lose hope. We should bear in mind the words of the Prophet (saw):

“No tiredness, illness, difficulty, sorrow, harm or sadness afflicts a Muslim, even to a thorn pricking him, without Allah wiping away his errors (sins) through it.” [Bukhari, Muslim]

The important question is what are YOU actually doing to secure your ticket into Heaven? Is the hereafter (Akhirah) even something you think about in your day-to-day life? If not, then it’s not too late to start planning for it right now. The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said:

“If you had seen what I saw, you would laugh little and cry much.” [Muslim]

where He is willing to give you everything.
When you pray and talk to God the father and Jesus they WILL give you an answer to all of your problems.
Jesus is my HERO and SAVIOR!!!!

I actually wrote an essay that included this idea. firstly i would like to mention that i respect your religion but at the same time, logically the concept is paradoxical. if Jesus (peace be upon him) died for the sins of mankind, why does it matter if we do good deeds, at the end of the day, we have no sin because Jesus (p.b.u.h) died clearing us from it. how does the idea of Hell and Heaven work then?
To be free from sin through the sacrifice of another means no sin actually exists thus we should all be allowed into Heaven should we not?

I like that reply Smile

Yes we can all go to heaven indeed.
but only if you ask Jesus to be your substitute.
we all have to follow Jesus. meaning(love your nabors as yourself, but God above all).
see basicly we are all bad, we have all sinned.
every single person has committed a lie or has called someone a fool.
to God this is a deadly sin, which deserves death.

Yet he sends his son who has never committed a single sin and He took all our sin upon him, died on the cross and was resurected.
now it is up to us to acknoledge the fact that we are sinfull and therefore not worthy to inherit Gods kindom.
even if you have done your live only good works, yet committed 1 sin.
you deserver hell.
therefore there is no salvation through works but through grace alone.
and it is free for all who acknoledge Jesus as his savior and wants to follow him.
is that love or not!!!!!!!

because of this we (believers) can do amazing miracles in his name.
I pray God will convince you of this truth, just ask Him if you dare and he WILL asnwer you!!!

I'm glad that you believe in God so strongly, what i disagree with firstly, is the fact that you're saying we deserve Hell (and death).

firstly we're all going to die anyway and neither in Islam nor Christianity exists an eternal death.
secondly surely God measures our efforts as He is a Benevolent Lord, He is omnipotent and also the most merciful. He alone deserves our worship. like you, i also believe in Jesus (p.b.u.h) thus actually do acknowledge him but it is wrong to say that he has taken our sins, because he hasn't.
Sins are personal, they can not be shared nor inherited, additionally it is wrong to lift him up and place him in the same rank as God. God is the ultimate, he has no partners - and if its the trinity that you believe in, then he can not be God as no where in the Holy Bible does he (Jesus p.b.u.h) state this, how then can you believe something he, himself has not taught?

The idea that Jesus (p.b.u.h) died for our sins makes us sinless (i.e. without sin)
so if we do something wrong, lets say kill someone, we do sin but because Jesus (p.b.u.h) has already died for our sins (making us sinless) would we all go to heaven?
No. thus Jesus (p.b.u.h) did not die for our sins, we all will pay the price for our sinnings, no one except God (i.e Allah) can remove sin from us

Hope that clears it up (theres a little bit of philosophy in there too)

@ Menno - you still do not show where Jesus said he died for humanity's sins. I am interested in where this notion arose. Something other than conjecture I am looking for - actual words of scripture would do as your evidence here - words in the new testament akin to "I died to absolve you of your sins".

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

ok there are several questions, I will try to answer all of them.
you can look the answers up in the online bible linked below.

first of all:
did Jesus die for our sin
please folow the link below for scriptural support.

now the next question is if there is eternal death:

below is the proof:

below I have placed a link about why we cannot keep on sinning.

Hebrews 10:26
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,

Mat 5:30 And if thy right hand causeth thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body go into hell.

Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Joh 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath eternal life; but he that obeyeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.

romans 8:1
There is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit, which brings us life in union with Christ Jesus, has set me free from the law of sin and death.

now the last question: is Jesus part of the trinity (part of God)

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:16-18)

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. - 1 John 5:7

john 1
1 In the beginning was the one
who is called the Word.
The Word was with God
and was truly God.
2 From the very beginning
the Word was with God.

3 And with this Word,
God created all things.
Nothing was made
without the Word.
Everything that was created
4 received its life from him,
and his life gave light
to everyone.

The Word became
a human being
and lived here with us.
We saw his true glory,
the glory of the only Son
of the Father.
From him all the kindness
and all the truth of God
have come down to us.

15 John spoke about him and shouted, “This is the one I told you would come! He is greater than I am, because he was alive before I was born.”
16 Because of all that the Son is, we have been given one blessing after another. b 1.16 one blessing after another: Or “one blessing in place of another.”17 The Law was given by Moses, but Jesus Christ brought us undeserved kindness and truth. 18 No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is truly God and is closest to the Father, has shown us what God is like.

All I can see is "Person X said that Jesus died for out sins" - that is not the same as Jesus saying it, but its like me commenting on a football match. That is not proof, it is commentary. Big big difference. I want actual proof - Jesus (pbuh) saying he died for our/your sins and not someone adding this statement after the fact.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

The bible is inspired by God in its original version,
therfore all the texts inside are divine.
there is not a single error in the bible altough it has been written by many different writers over a period of 1500 year.
so you can trust person X (Paul) because he paid for this testomony and stood by it with his life.
like many others did, who have a letter in the bible
+ Jesus his coming and suffering was prophecied a very long time before his arrival, by many prophets.

below I give you some extra texts including words from Jesus Himself.
I hope this is helpfull to understand.
but the best way to do this:
Just ask Jesus himself to show himself to you.
and he will if you are sincere!!!!
he talks to me on a daily basis.
even shows himself fysickly to some believers.

mark 10:45
For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

luke 24: 44-48
44 Jesus said to them, “While I was still with you, I told you that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Books of the Prophets, and in the Psalms, (Psalms 24 & 44)(Isaiah 53:1-10)
45 Then he helped them understand the Scriptures.
46 He told them:
The Scriptures say that the Messiah must suffer, then three days later he will rise from death. 47 They also say that all people of every nation must be told in my name to turn to God, in order to be forgiven. So beginning in Jerusalem, 48 you must tell everything that has happened.

Isaiah 53 :1-5
1 Has anyone believed us
or seen the mighty power
of the Lord in action?
2 Like a young plant or a root
that sprouts in dry ground,
the servant grew up
obeying the Lord.
He wasn't some handsome king.
Nothing about the way he looked
made him attractive to us.
3 He was hated and rejected;
his life was filled with sorrow
and terrible suffering.
No one wanted to look at him.
We despised him and said,
“He is a nobody!”

4 He suffered and endured
great pain for us,
but we thought his suffering
was punishment from God.
5 53.5 Mt 8.17; 1P 2.24.He was wounded and crushed
because of our sins;
by taking our punishment,
he made us completely well.

This may contain truth for the old testament which was written down when written (but Muslims still hold that it WAS altered), but not the new testament where I think the earliest gospel is like 80 years after the crucifixion.

Unlike the qur'an where you can verify the text with very early recordings of teh same text, this is not the case with the bible - moreso, over time, with new improved translations, sentences are not only modified, they are added and removed too.

Until you can provide an original or early source to compare against, I do not think you can hold a position that there has been no change in the content.

Another question - where does the gospel of St Barnabas fit into all this? I assume you do not accept its legitimacy?

“While I was still with you, I told you that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Books of the Prophets, and in the Psalms, (Psalms 24 & 44)(Isaiah 53:1-10)

These "future references" - ie when they are written in Jesus (pbuh)'s voice - how did they come about? If he was not on earth to give the people guidance, where did these utterances come from?

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

I agree with you that there are many bible versions out who do not contain the pure original text.
I believe however, just as many other believers that the king james version is very accurate.

there are literally thousands of copies of original translations out spread over the earth
so you can verify each one of them if they contain the truth or not.

below you can find a link to somebody who explains the history of the bible and how corrupt versions were made.
very interesting and eye opening.

but i think it is not a healthy way to critisize on the bible or the qur'an for that matter, just to make sure you have the right faith, simply because the other book has errors.

I can give you a website which gives the contracdictions for the qu'ran as well but that does not convince me of the truth of the bible:

see the bible has many prophecies who have an accuracy of 100%.
that i think is impressive.
but not as impressive as the Holy Spirit inside of me who is an internal withness.
who can let me speak in tonques, or can perform devine healing to others or me or different kind of miracles, and is speaking to me to help me during the day.

to come back to your last question :
These "future references" - ie when they are written in Jesus 's voice - how did they come about? If he was not on earth to give the people guidance, where did these utterances come from?

well that is the work of the Holy Spirit.
He tells us what to do or what to write.
(through profecies and visions).

that is the very reason why the bible in it's original version is perfect.

one more interesting thing i reasontly heared from a person who converted from islamic background to christianity, is that the Muslim end time messiah (Mahdi), who will rain for 7 years is described in the bible as the antichrist.
including with similar names.
i mean Allah has 99 names right,
a couple of them are described in the bible but then they are referred to satan.

So some random person came out with the ideas later on, after the fact?

How do you know those visions are from God and not the Devil?

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

do you mean the apostles in the new testament of the prophets of the old?

i guess you now mean the new testamtent apostles.

well, all the prophecies given have to be tested to the word.
if they are not corresponding with the bible, they have to be excused.
in the early days they could only test there prophecies to the Torah but now we can have our prophecies (which are given daily, as promised in the bible which would happen in the last days, which we are living in now)the entire bible to compare it too.

then in 1 john 4 is written
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

as a final test, when a prophecy is given, every believer should take it to God himself and ask him to confirm if it is true.

one more interesting thing i reasontly heared from a person who converted from islamic background to christianity, is that the Muslim end time messiah (Mahdi), who will rain for 7 years is described in the bible as the antichrist.
including with similar names.
i mean Allah has 99 names right,
a couple of them are described in the bible but then they are referred to satan.

you might be interested in his story:

I am watching it (I am on A4 atm), and so far apart from... waffling on and on with amusing anecdotes, I can see him twisting things and speaking untruths. (untruths being the same as lies). He is playing to the crowd and being an entertainer instead of speaking some great truth.

I have not studied much about the mahdi etc, but afaik, he would not be alone, but joined by Prophet Jesus (as), and the reign would not be seven years as he is suggesting.

Moreover, he is delusional with his thinking - that God is and wants opposite of this world. Why would God create a world polemic to him? Why would he favour death and destruction? The god he is painting is evil.

(and then bible songs - he goes "wow ... there is no god like jehovah... it doesn't claim there are no other gods, but that there are none like him" ... is he a monotheist at all? (monotheist in the christian sense.))

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

I did a search for the Mahdi and according what muslim people write, who apparantly know the Hadith, the Mahdi (12th and last imam) will reign for 7 years.
below an article about something the Iranian president did to proof his point.

about him being monotheist:
the bible does not teach us that there no other gods, but the other gods are false gods
there is only one real and might living God and that is JAHWEH/JEHOVAH /Adonai / Elohim
different names for the same God and my FATHER!!!

about the other gods, satan is also around and he likes to imitate God, so he has many different appearences.

I found it interesting Ahmadinejad referenced a 7 year period for the MAHDI's reign in a recent public statement addressing Christians around the world. Christians call this 7 year period the Great Tribulation. This 7 year period is also referenced in the Hadith, which is a Muslim holy book that has equal weight to the Qur'an. The Hadith are the sayings of Mohammad.

"said Ahmadinejad, according to an Iranian Student News Agency report cited by YnetNews.com

In a greeting to the world's Christians for the coming new year, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said he expects both Jesus and the Shiite messianic figure, Imam Mahdi, to return and "wipe away oppression."

Ahmadinejad then made a connection between Jesus and the Imam Mahdi, believed by Shiites to have disappeared as a child in A.D. 941. When the Mahdi returns, they contend, he will reign on earth for seven years before bringing about a final judgment and the end of the world. " cited from WordNetDaily

I am not shia and any words of his do not have much credibility with me.

The majority of Muslims (maybe greater than 90%) reject the shia narrative.

SHoebat also claims that the western version of teh bible has been corrupted, which kind of goes against what you say above. ("what right do you have to replace eden with rome?")

EDIT - I added a "not" as the tird word of this post.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

oh and about God being a horrible god because this world is bad.
that is not His fould but our fould.
Adam and Eve took the forbidden fruit and by doing that they cursed the world
God allowed this because he has given humanity "free will"

he took care of this problem by letting his son taking all our sin on his shoulders.
so we could be born again (born out of God)
and be changed with help of the Holy Spirit.
so we will change to what Jesus is now.
SON OF GOD

it is up to our free will to choose if we want that tremendous blessing, to have a super loving relationship with God the Father, with all the benefits through Jesus or we choose to fix it ourselves and just do good works for whatever god (Allah, Boedha or yourself).

It would have been easier to prevent evil, no?

Your argument makes no sense. Why should people suffer because the actions of another?

In the translations, jesus called himself the son of man and also called all humans the sons of god - the latter more and before any claims that he called himself as such. I posit that this is a bad translation done by shoddy translators.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

hmm ok, maybe you don't believe in the Mahdi,
and you are right that western christianity made many errors,
false teachings and has many false bibles.
all true.
but we should never look at humans but look to God and his word (original text)
even king james is fine (please look it up to find it's credibility)

the fact that there are so many different churches approx. 35.000 worldwide.
it gives you an indication how effective satan is against christians.
(devide and conquer technique)

personally I grew up in a church but recently i discovered after surrendering to Jesus that even that church is not true to some parts of scripture, so i did a personal study in the word and God guided me through it and now my live has totally changed in a very good way.
many western people just tag along with a church and don't really study the bible and build a relationship with God, which is very deadly.
it makes me really sad so to say.

i will give you a couple more points to look at.

1 how come the qu'ran written 600 years a.d.) says Jesus was never crusified, although every historian can tell you that this event happened, this being backed up with literally thousants of pieces of evidence even outside of scripture.

2 if you go to youtube and look for near death experiences, you will find that the people who actually died and went to hell or heaven all claim there only way for salvation is Jesus. (please look it up, it is massively important)
below is one, but there are way more!!!

please look online for miracles\ removal of deamon possesions which are performed in Jesus name

yes God could have started all over again but He wanted that people would choose for him.
we inherited the sin through death which goes over the genereations
Romans 5:11-18

And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: for that: or, in whom13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. 15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. 16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. 17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) by one man's...: or, by one offence18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

as you can see God did it his way which we may not understand, but the thing we can understand is that he gave us a free gift, and that is the gift of salvation
maybe we don't all understand it, but just take it because it is yours.
i'm sure that when you do accept this you will receive the Holy spirit and he will help you understand it all.

Jesus is both son of man and is Son of God.
both man and God.
that is why he is using both terms
he had to die as man so we could get saved and also become Sons of God.
isn't that cool???
hey i will go to sleep now
maybe tomorrow we discuss some more
I will pray for you, that you might understand the love that has been given to everyone who accepts Jesus as there savior.
God bless Menno

I do believe that there will be a mahdi. But I - along with all other muslims, unlike how shoebart suggests, believe that he will fight along side Prophet Jesus (pbuh).

There will also be a false messiah, an antichrist - we call him the dajjaal, or the impostor.

how come the qu'ran written 600 years a.d.) says Jesus was never crusified, although every historian can tell you that this event happened, this being backed up with literally thousants of pieces of evidence even outside of scripture.

Because its the word of god, and not made up by man - if it was by man, the most common version would have stuck, but since we are continuing the abrahamic religions, a part of that is correcting the errors that were introduced before hand.

Now there are even cxhristians who start to wonder if the wrong person was crucified - the description does not fit with Jesus carrying the cross for a long distance, for the majority of people seeing the crucifixion not having previously seen jesus (ra), even down to the crucifixion not taking as long as they generally did.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

Well i'm wondering how you would explain the fact that people who were with him for 3.5 years, witnessed his suffering and crusifiction, and saw him later again multiple times, after he was resurected.

you could say that they just made the story up, but that theory will not hold considering the fact that almost all of them payed this testomony with the own death.
if you and i would have made up a story and new it was false we would not die for it, certainly not all the people who claim the story is true.
also consider the fact that about 500 people have witnessed that Jesus was resurrected.
some apostles even write to some people that they should ask the eye witnesses to confirm this fact that Jesus died and was ressurected.
in those years many many many christians died for this fact they new was true because they witnessed it themselves.

they would certainly not all let someone kill them for a fairytale.
that just makes no sense at all

and how abot Paul.
He was a christian persecutor, he had many christians killed and imprisonned because of there testomony.
yet Jesus personally converted him during his trip to Damascus.
then he became the biggest evangalist ever.
this also does not make any sense at all unless it is true.

i'd like to see your view on this.

Many of his closest companions were NOT present at the time of crucifixion - in fact the majority of people there would not have recognised him or even seen him before!

If he was not crucified, seeing him again would not be all that miraculous now, would it?

What you are also suggesting is that what he (as) said/did/preached during his life is not important and the only bit that is is the crucifixion and what came after it. You are rejecting his legacy.

As far as I know the bible does not allow the consumption of pork. Yet we have that as a common occurrence.

this also does not make any sense at all unless it is true.

or unless he was otherwise deceived or his words altered after the fact.

What say you about Judas? Was he not also a close disciple? How could such a thing have been allowed to happen? If any of his close companions could not have been corrupted, what happened there?

Well apearantly you have read the bible because you know some parts of it.
I suggest you read the books of matthew, marc, luke and john again or at least the crucifiction part.
because then you will notice the witnesses.
like the 2 mary's, who were present during Jesus's travel from Galilea to Jerusalem,
there present durign crusifiction and burial and ressurection.
Also John's present at the crusifiction (Jesus talkedto him from the cross)
even in book of John is described the unbelief of Thomas who needed the see and feel the scars of Jesus before believing.

What you are also suggesting is that what he (as) said/did/preached during his life is not important and the only bit that is is the crucifixion and what came after it. You are rejecting his legacy.

What did I say that made you think I do so?

1 Jesus first of all told us how to live after repentence.
2 Then Jesus died for our sin and conquered death by being ressurected.
3 Jesus went to heaven so we could receive the Holy Spirit

now we can live the new life with the H Spirit since we no longer have to live the life of the flesh (following our will or serving any other false god like Allah, boedha or ourself, through works.
but live the life of the spirit (the Holy Spirit will help you to cast every problem to the father, and let him offer you a solution so you can walk it, through grace)
works will follow as fruits of spirit (galatians 5)

As far as I know the bible does not allow the consumption of pork. Yet we have that as a common occurrence.

read acts 10 what God said to Peter about unholy food.

What say you about Judas? Was he not also a close disciple? How could such a thing have been allowed to happen? If any of his close companions could not have been corrupted, what happened there?

appearantly Jesus knew about this (mat 26)
and it was foretold in scripture this would happen (psalm 69, 109)
if you ask me why?
well i don't know exactly, maybe it is a warning to all of us that no mater how close you are to christ you can fall away if you are not carefull and not aware of satans atacks.

great topic heaven and hell, but why is nothing ever mentioned about death, and the life in the grave. That can be a significant portion of time death til day of resurrection. I think reflecting/remembering preparing for death should be given more importance than the pleasures of jannah. no offence to a sizeable portion of muslim male species but hurs and sexual pleasure pale in significance if you think of just 1 night of torment in the grave.

sorry to put a damper on things, i do love the topic honestly.

“O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the hereafter that is the home that will remain forever.” [Ghafir : 39]

Here you go:

On the other hand, fear is only a short term motivator. Always talking about death and destruction and hell gets boring and people get used to the idea that they "will go to hell" and it loses all meaning.

Talking about the good is vitally important.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

we're meant to remember death everyday guess that would include heaven and hell. reason i bring it up is because it has effected me personally, and my life will never be the same again. i always heard about death but it was never close to me. Now i have seen it upclose and only when a person sees that will they take a different view on life.

Death is not all about fear, and need not be a boring topic. in fact it is an interesting topic, even an eye opener. it makes you realise this life really is nothing but a form of distraction, trivial enjoyment. to be frank right now im just thinking what's the point of life if we're all gonna become a corpse may as well die right now. yeah i know i can hear you saying its a test, but why when the end will be death anyway no matter what. but nevermind me those are my feeling right now, because feelings are raw right now. Fact is its the will of Allah so we should learn about it prepare for it, that's the only reason we are here to please Allah, for a good death for a good end in jannah, nothing else.

Scholars just teaching us about the rosy parts of islam do us no favours because when death comes unexpectedly to a young person, or a healthy person it damages the living and the dead. life sucks right now. btw i pray we all get to chill in heaven insha'Allah i would not wish hell on my worst enemy. Wasalaam
