The Revival. On a Phone. (New website theme for all to test)

Just think about it. a website on a phone.

wow. Just wow.

Back to reality.

The current peach-coloured theme (called "insight") doesn't really work well on small screens. or even big screens. Its a load of peach. and orange.

So to get around those limitations, a new theme has been made - "FiveThirteen", which has been made primarily to work well on smaller screens. You can change between the two - there is a switch theme box on the top left on the peach theme, and on the top right (or below the main content on mobiles) on the grey/new theme.

The technical side of it works well IMO - especially on small screens, where it shines (on your laptop try making the browser window thinner and see the magic work), but it is also useable on a pc or laptop, but here the greys will hit you hard. Unfortunately, I am not good at actual design (hence always the horrible colours)

It is the time for the users to decide and let their opinions be known:

  1. The new theme is good enough. Move over to it completely.
  2. It looks good on mobile, but bad on the desktop, so only use it for mobiles.
  3. It doesn't look good on either.
  4. The peach theme wasn't actually that bad, so why change?
  5. Other

If somene is good at graphical design and can suggest a better colour scheme (precise hex colours), then I am willing to test the alternatives in order to get the theme fully complete.

Comments

I like the new theme. It loads quicker. Its good on the mobile.

Though ive noticed a bug already. When accessing hte sight through a mobile: If you click on recent posts from the drop down and then go to the recent posts page. You cant then click the menu button again. The drop down just doesnt appear. So i end up clicking home and then the menu button again.

Though on a normal sceen there seems to be too much white. Maybe add a little colour. Id suggest blue but that would drown out the links so im thinking lillac maybe? Like a light lavender or something. That would go with the blue links and the grey.

And I heard as it were, the noise of thunder. One of the four beasts saying come and see and I beheld, a pale horse. And his name that sat on him was Death... and Hell followed with him.

There's nothing wrong with the white! It looks formal and readable and the simple layout is convenient but the orange colour did not look too bad either. At least it combined well with the logo.

I had to zoom out everytime I selected a different page to see all the text. The only tiny criticism is the images/titles are too big.

The theme looks better on mobiles than the desktop.

Admin, what happened to the nice soft purple? Maybe don't use it as the links, but I agree, a bit of colour like that would make it look better. The white and grey is bit bland though an improvement on the orange.

That was the visited link colour, replaced by the constant blue.

I need to work on the colours, get something better.

But I have been working on new shiny things - more notifications etc to spam people's screens with. Hopefully they will be finished today, though i might be forced to turn them off.

The text service needs to be made obvious on the site. May be have a box about it, get rid of an unnecessary box if need be, like who's new or announcements.

This theme reminds me of 'the guardian' newspapers website.

You could pinch colour ideas from theirs.

And I heard as it were, the noise of thunder. One of the four beasts saying come and see and I beheld, a pale horse. And his name that sat on him was Death... and Hell followed with him.

If you've used your phone and the new theme did you see orange anywhere on the site except for the logo at the top? I see things highlighted in orange when i click on the them - titles, navigation tabs etc but Admin has no idea what im on about. I can't print screen it cuz it only come up when i hover or when i click meaning it goes off straight away and i cant print screen on music phone (May be able to on pc but don't see it on there)

I think it makes the site look better, with the added bit of colour, continuing the colour scheme from the logo.

Does anyone else see it??

I've made some changes to the colour scheme and now made the theme the default theme.

Feedback is still most welcome.
