One step back for 2 steps forward

After almost a year of on and off attemptsin trying to update the site software to the next version, I present you with... an almost upgrade. (Edit - now a full upgrade as I have decided that its good enough to go live.)

I ran into a few issues more than I wanted to before the site is made live, but I also wante comments and feedback and if people dont think that the problems are too major, the site will be made live and the problems fixed afterwards.

Currently known broken issues:

1. Images in content are not working. Until yesterday in the multiple upgrade attempts, they worked, so I dont know why they are not working now. I need to investigate.

2. Tribune referencing is not broken.

3. The private messages notification pop up currently does not display.

4. I have spent good sleep time doing this and may be missing out on a load of other issues.

5. I know that the theme is even less polished than before. Tthis can be fixed and is not a hurdle from upgrading.

Please treat it as the live site and let me know what you think. all comments welcome, good bad ugly or other.

EDIT - new images will work perfectly well, so I have taken the plunge and made this site live.

This also means that all posts made today have been lost forever and ever and ever.

Comments

I don't know if this is part of what needs to be polished on the theme, but before you could go straight to the last post from the top of the forum and now you can't. Is that going to be changed?

Also me being picky but the reply box- can it be wider? It was easier to use before as if I was quoting the whole quote would come up with me having to use the cursor to go to the end. This problem may only be mine, as I haven't figured out how to use the cursor to go to the end (when it's below what can be seen in the box) on my iPod :/

i thought i commented on this...anyway..quite a shock to actually see it online. i was thinking i could get use to the orange theme.but idont think i can. lool

also, is it me or is revvy super slow?

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

the site was acting slow.

and you did post, but that was on the old server but after the database had been copied over. That post and about 5 others are lost.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

Also the spacing in the side boxes looks dodgy. I mean it's not too spaced out but then it kinds is :S I think it might be the font size of the stuff in bullets? It reminds me of the website I had to make in ICT (looked very amateurish  )

Are all the smileys not working?

I'm not sure what I think about the new look for the posts, but I do like the darker grey.

You know the navigation tabs at the top? Why don't you make them more central so there's an even amount of space on each side

site is looking slik mashAllah, nice work admin.

The theme is a work in progress.

The smileys should be working. let me know what is broken.

The comment boxes should now be bigger too.

Twitter is integrated (even if no twitter block currently shows) as per new blog post.

Smileys like :/ the embarrassed face and probably others don't seem to work.

There is no capcha thing for guest posters. EDIT: oh right. There is.

Do you really need 2 different tabs for magazine and articles? What's the point of that? Oh that reminds me, is the search function gna be better now?

Yep the reply box is bigger Biggrin

And you twitter integration thing has worked (you've probably checked it already anyway, I know)

The 'track' thing on peoples profiles - it's now the same as the view screen, instead of showing what people have commented on. I like using the track to find topics more easily.

Hmm, it might be easier to just use the search function, if it's working better.

I've turned the edit function back off for now.

Let me know if you can still edit other people's posts.

The track tab on a user's profile should be working again too.

I can't 'Mark all as read'

On forums, when I click on 'last' (page) it actually goes to a page with no replies. :S

and in forum i can still edit stuff. but i cant even edit my own comment in blogposts...

Can you check both again now?

I think it has now been fixed.

Still a billion other things to fix.
