"Jihadi" groups and Bid'ah

There have been posts by another user-not-to-be-mentioned-by-name who has attacked fellow muslim groups for mostly not being too worried at jihad and doing a bad job of it.

But the probably is that by all accounts, most jihadi groups engage in bid'ah (while accusing others of it).

Or if you go by Imam shafi'i's view, then bid'ah sayyi'ah.

Bid'ah is according to Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah something which contradicts Qur'an and Sunnah. (According to Imam Shafi'i's opinion bid'ah sayy'iah is something which contradicts Qur'an and Sunnah. I will refer to both as simply bid'ah in this post).

Now what is this bid'ah that the jihadi groups do? indiscriminate murder for one.

This is contradictory to the Qur'an and sunnah, but the supporters of such groups point to their successes in this and how its a "good" thing.

But here is when you give the opinion of the classical scholars that even a "good" bid'ah is not allowed. (the definition of bid'ah here is anything which CONTRADICTS the Qur'an and Sunnah, not anything new full stop).

So you get all these groups who think they are doing God's work, going around maiming, killing blowing up other people (destroying property and history where they can) and all they are doing is spreading fitnah.

They are the embodiment of bid'ah.

Another one is suicide bombing. While counter to Islamic teachings, some scholars allowed it as a necessity in Palestine. So they called something that is counter to the Qur'an and sunnah as good due to necessity. We all know how that turned out.

Suggesting anything that is counter to the Qur'an and Sunnah as a good thing always causes problems unforetunately, the "Jihadi" groups that do everything but jihad do not understand this and are not taught this by their superiors.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said, when refuting the view of those who quoted ‘Umar’s words “What a good innovation this is” as meaning that innovation (bid’ah) is permissible:

With regard to qiyaam in Ramadaan, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) introduced this to his ummah, and he led them in prayer for a number of nights, because at his time they used to pray in congregation and individually. But he did not persist in leading them in one congregation, lest that be made obligatory for them. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) died, sharee’ah was established (and would not change after that). When ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) became caliph, he united them behind one imam, Ubayy ibn Ka’b, who united the people in one congregation on the orders of ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him). ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) was one of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs, of whom the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I urge you to adhere to my Sunnah and the way of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs after me; cling tightly to it.” So what he did was Sunnah but he said, “What a good innovation this is,” because it was an innovation in the linguistic sense, as they were doing something that they had not done during the life of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), i.e., gathering to do this, but it is Sunnah in the shar’i sense.”

Majmoo’ al-Fataawa, 22/234, 235

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah states in Majmu' al-Fatawa (20/163):

And rom here, the misguidance of the one who innovated a path or belief

-claiming that faith cannot be completed except without it - becomes

known, alongside the knowledge that the Messenger did not mention it.

And whatever opposes the texts, then it is an innovation by agreement of

the Muslims, and that which is not known to oppose [the texts], then it

is not always called 'bidah' (in the blameworthy sense). Al-Shafi'i (rahimahullaah) said:

Bidah is of two types: A bidah that opposes [something from] the book, or [something from] the sunnah, or [a matter of] consensus, or a narration from some of the Companions of Allaah's Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), this is the misguided innovation. And a bidah which does not oppose any of these things [qur'an, sunnah, athar, ijmaa']. This is what can be good (hasanah), due to the saying of Umar, "What an excellent innovation this is".

with ibn taymiyyahs first quote and second quote its quite obvious what ibn taymiyyah believes in regarding bidah

The big $64 dollar question in everyones mind worldwide should be "what does ANY of this have to do with salvation?" Just like the early so called Christians (not the true Christians mind you) shed blood from country to country there is no difference here... the problem is mankind (once again) has deviated from the original path set up by God. The writings of the Apostle Paul written some 700 years before Mohammed was even thought of lays out the warnings of false teachers and apostacy in detail but his writings go ignored because people don't want God, they want what THEY want and God is not REALLY it. Mankind wants sex, drugs and rock and roll. man does not care about his soul or his children any more than the family dog that gets stuck in the back yard. FOCUS ON TRUE SALVATION AND THE SOUL OF MAN PEOPLE. All else is rubbish.

@abualabbasassaffah - I see that you have posted a lot of words.

But you seem to ignore the actual topic. Yes I know that Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah called anything contrary to the Qur'an and sunnah bid'ah.

Imam Shafi'i called anything contrary to the Qur'an and sunnah Bid'ah Sayyi'ah.

Unfortunately many "jihadi" groups seems to be revelling in this bid'ah.

Even in places where you can find a just enemy such as Iraq, Afghanistan, the groups mostly targetted other locals, blew up mosques of other groups and shed plenty of blood.

In a documentary there was even a recruiter in Pakistan for the taliban who said that kids were gifts from God to him to use (for bombings).

Now these people considered their actions good. But they were contrary to Qur'an and sunnah. Many people even initially supported them due to their ... necessity. But eventually many have realised the fallacy of falling into the trap of supporting what is against Qur'an and sunnah "in necessity".

and mullah omar famously said when the kafir reveal news about muslims know that it is not always true, mullah omar even released his own book called the fiqh of jihad have you read that do you know about it?

in it he says do not kill women and children and elderly or kill innocent civilians even if their kafir/nonmuslims, kill only the soldiers and their supporter such as karzai, but do not do suicide bombings that harm the innocent even if their nonmuslims

but this is ignored by the west and its media and people get brain washed by this

in regards to paksitan how true the enws is allah knows best

but trusting media of kafir is blind especially regarding islam

putting that aside imam shafi said all innvoation are wrong

the types of innvoation that is good are things not in the deen but help it such as a person who created a new pen to write a hadith, now this is not bidah in rleigion for theirs nothing wrong with writing hadith but making the pen is bidah, but pen is not a bidah in religion but bidah in general which can be used for islam, this is the type of bidah imam shafi allowed

and even if imam shafi said that which i know he didnt then it is muhammad saw we follow not imam shafi, many of imam shafi view is viewed to be the weakest vieew of the 4 imam same can be said about others which  shows their views were not infallible they were human made mistake

but we know in reality he was reffering to bidah in linguistic for example i used for pen not bidah in religion

“MAY ALLAH TAALA GRANT THE ULAMA OF THE TIME THE TAUFEEQ OF NOT HAVINGTHE AUDACITY TO DESCRIBE ANY BID’AH AS BEING HASAN (BEAUTIFUL) EVEN IF THE BID’AH IN THEIR SIGHT APPEARS TO BE LIKE THE GLITTERING RAYS OF MORNING LIGHT BECAUSE IN ANYHING OTHER THAN THE SUNNAH, THE DECEPTION OF SHAITAAN PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE.”

imam rabbani also known ahmed sirhindi

now i know paksitan taliban who are a completely different group from afghansitan taliban blew up shrines, while i am not against destroying shrines the fact that it killed people that was wrong even though they were sufis it was still wrong for its wrong and their muslims

also by hitting bombs in graves you are messing up a persons grave so again that is wrong, jsut destroy the shrine not the grave altogether the family need to visit it

mullah omar famously said when the kafir reveal news about muslims know that it is not always true

This is based upon a hadith. And the hadith did not say with a *kaafir* brings news.

It was about any news - verify it first.

Limiting the hadith to just non Muslims is dare-I-say-it a new thing.

putting that aside imam shafi said all innvoation are wrong

I will not discuss this topic with you beyond what has already been discussed, but I have shown you a scan from a book by Imam Shafi'i' which shows the above to be a lie.

Beyond that, I cannot discuss things on this topic with you when you are probably the first individual in history to call Caliph Umar (ra) wrong on this matter.

a href="">Your words:

if umar ra did call it bidah then he made a mistake and was wrong

I don't see how we can discuss this matter when you consider Caliph Umar (ra) to be wrong to refer to something as bid'ah, because those words go against your views.

Any sensible person would alter their views to be in line with qur'an, sunnah and the sahabahs.

as i said in the forum if that was the case but reality is that wasnt the case

anyway this thing is wrapped up so best is to end
