OIC delegation attends UN Security Council session New York, UN, IRNA -- The UN Security Council had an emergency session late Monday to survey the Palestinian-Israeli crisis attended by a group of foreign ministers of the Islamic countries dispatched to the U.N. by the OIC for the purpose.
The five-man OIC delegation, headed by Qatar's Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jasim bin Jaber al-Thani, arrived in New York on Sunday and held talks with the UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan on Monday morning. The Iranian Foreign Minister, Kamal Kharrazi, Malaysia's Datouk Seri Hamed al-Bar, Morocco's Muhammad Benisa (president of Al-Qods Committee), Senegal's Sheikh Tidian Gadio (head of the OIC Committee for Defending the Palestinian Nations Rights) are the members of the OIC delegation.
They were also scheduled to take part in joint press conference at the UN headquarters after the Security Council session.
The urgent session of the Security Council was an initiative of the Libyan representative to the UN, who is also the representative of the Arab nations at the UN. The Security Council meeting ended without issuing a resolution or even a communique
