My Sixth Form Dress Code

In life, you have a variety of stages and different expectations and i think you should be able to adapt to new environments. For me, one big change in my life, will be the sixth form that i'll be studying my A-Levels at. Most of you have already passed this stage or are leaving this stage. For some of you it may have been the most grilling and stressful time of your life and for others it could have been the best time of your life, for whatever reasons, whether that means making life long friends, simply enjoying the college or sixth form that you studied at or knowing that these two years set the foundations for what you want to achieve in life.

One of the biggest hurdles that I've come across is what to wear. Now it might seem simple or you might be thinking 'girls are always fussy about their clothing' but yes, it Does matter! When you were studying you might have been allowed to wear clothes of any colour from the rainbow and from every shop that you liked. Or you might have been asked to follow a decent dress code.

I'd like to share what the sixth form that i will (inshaAllah) be attending soon expects from me in terms of the dress code. When i saw this list i thought it was very military and business like, but then i do understand the reasons behind them. The school has a very high reputation and obviously the way that students dress, represents the ethos of the school. Being at the top of the league board, obviously means a lot to the school in terms of achievement and the quality of teaching and thats why i think they want to stand out, be different and look professional.

I'm not the type of person who prefers to wear a top and trousers. Neither do i want to wear a skirt with tights. I seem to have limited options. I could opt for a long skirt, but i seriously do not think they suit me, and where will i find one that is matching to the blazer that needs to be worn at all times? If any of you seem to have any ideas of what i could wear whilst abiding by the sixth from dress code and most importantly what Islam has to say in terms of covering up, then please do be kind enough to post them on here!

For some reason i can't upload the list, so i decided to type it all out again!

  • A black, dark navy or dark grey business suit (top and bottom of the suit should be matching).
  • Suits should be worn with a blouse or smart top.
  • Clothing must not be made of denim or jean-like materials.
  • A knee length skirt, smart dress (summer/flowery dresses are not permitted) or full length trousers. Trousers should not be skin-tight. A matching jacket must also be worn.
  • If you wish to observe your religious tradition, you may wear a smart dress or ankle length skirt. This must also be worn with a matching jacket.
  • Headscarves may be coloured.
  • Skirts should be worn with tights, which may be plain or coloured tights.
  • Shoes may be flat or low heeled. Boots are not permitted.
  • Discrete jewellery and light make up are allowed.
  • Facial piercings (including retainers) and visible tattoos are not allowed.
  • Hair colour should be of a natural colour. Bleaching of hair to make an unnatural white colour is not permitted. Extreme or asymmetrical hairstyles are equally not allowed.
  • Hats, coats, gloves and scarves should not be worn indoors.

Inappropriate tops are those that:

  • have straps;
  • have logos;
  • show cleavage; or
  • are made of see-through fabric.

and it can all be black. that'd be easy to find. you'l llook so smart mashaaAllah!!!

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Where do you find a dress, tousers and jacket, with the same shade of 'black' and the same sort of tailoring? (I need website links) If i end up wearing all black i'll need my Hijab to break that up a little! I want it to be smart but not dull at the same time!

LOL I doubt that i'll expand sideways and upways in such a short time, and ever so quickly! Im actually not growing much!

Its just that everywhere else i went, the clothes were either a size smaller or a size bigger, and never my size, so matalan seemed to have absolutely everything so now if any of you ever need similar items, just go there!
