I think it also depends on who the person is.

I'm assuming the behaviour would be different from a family member to a stranger.

I would probably ignore it or not care.

If it wasn't a stranger...

I do try and talk to my siblings, parents aswell. If they don't listen then whatever, but atleast you've conveyed the message.

What about friends? Colleagues? etc? would you just leave them to it?

if theyre beating someone up in the middle of the street then ur expected to at least call the plice
or shout help or something

When you cross a road do you say "I cannot judge wether this is safe to cross or not", or do you make a judement that it is safe (or not safe) to cross?

Hmmm well I think like everyone has said it depends on the situation and the person. Sometimes, for example kids, they are just too young and naive to understand right from wrong or good and bad, this we can easily correct and guide them to the right way.

Other times it comes to teenagers whom have developed their own minds but are at a point in their life when making choices is difficult and sometimes their eyes are blinded by wrong and right, here you can inform them and advise them and also guide them (although some teenagers are stubborn as ever)

Then you get adults who commit sin knowingly but think its okay, or say they will repent for it later on (stupid). From experience with this situation I've learnt these people dont change their spots! But, its your duty to inform them that what theyre doing is wrong and provide them with knowledge of right and wrong (even though most of them should already have it). Some adults are such that they are commiting sin, but they think they are doing good...errrr maybe an example would be suicide bombers!

I think I came across a hadith which says the lowest of Imaans is to ad least try to stop a person doing sin with your tongue (i.e. talk to them and let them know what theyre doing is wrong)...dont remember the full ahadith though!

Oh yeah and regards to family, even if I see older family members of mine doing wrong then I will tell them its wrong, just because theyre family does not mean you stop your duty as a Muslim. Obviously there are ways to speak to people, and you got to do it in the nicest way possible without hurting their feelings (sometimes though I think thats just inevitable). When it comes to colleagues, I stay out of their way ( many of my work mates have their own agenda and perception of Islam) and considering we are at work and not a social atmosphere I prefer not to say too much, although I will give a message indirectly.

With regards to friends, same as above. Still tell them, debate over it and get over it! 🙂

I don't know, you seem to have a few blogs and forum polls on judging and blah blah.

Just wondering what the cause was.Or maybe I haven't read all of the posts to say anything.

:S This isn't about judging, i just wanted to make sure 1R4M was on the same wavelength as me after her comments (judging is natural)

The other blog was from a few months back. It wasn't about "judging" but more about knowing a person. I guess you might need to judge their actions etc to come to a conclusion as to what you think of them but i meant it in a good way.
The word "judging" has bad connotations for me.
