I couldn't help but disagree with an immediate mentally but visceral ersponse: "yes it does!".

Our own little worlds revolve around us although in the bigger picture - not so much, insignificant specks instead.. perhaps?

That reminds me of a story i was told the other week. It goes something like this:

President Kennedy visited NASA and saw the janitor [or caretaker as i prefer, cuz i'm not American!] mopping the floors rigorously and the President said to him, you're doing a great job, you're a great janitor! and the janitor replied "I'm not just a janitor; i helped put a man on the moon!"

i.e although he's a janitor, he does matter in the bigger picture and his job does make a difference. So every little thing you do also makes a difference.
