but he didn't. it just made her look more frightening.

Think of it like a chihuahua pumping itself up in face of bigger animals. But much more lethal. Just imagine that axe hit the guy!

I approve of this axe wielding self protection. It makes me think that there may be some sanity out there.

EDIT - as a bonus, the thief's mask falls off too and he has to fix it.
