And it seems to be a "love marriage":
Hundreds of people have attended a wedding in central Somalia between a man who says he is 112 years old, and his teenage wife.
Ahmed Muhamed Dore - who already has 13 children by five wives - said he would like to have more with his new wife, Safia Abdulleh, who is 17 years old.
"Today God helped me realise my dream," Mr Dore said, after the wedding in the region of Galguduud.
The bride's family said she was "happy with her new husband".
Mr Dore said he and his bride - who is young enough to be his great-great-grand-daughter - were from the same village in Somalia and that he had waited for her to grow up to propose.
"I didn't force her, but used my experience to convince her of my love; and then we agreed to marry," the groom said.

..and what will islam have to say about his reasoning? yes his wife is ill..but does that give him a good reason to marry over and over again?

Islam does not require a reason to get married. There is no interview beforehand.

no i meant a man just cant marry over and over again, there must be a criteria am sure, back in our prophets time men were allowed to get married again if either their wife couldnt have children, was ill, to a widow etc etc, yes ok he has stated that his wife is ill, but what about the previous wife and one before that?!
i watched a programme on tv, while back, the largest families in the world, and there was an arab man ..of a good old age, had over 50 children from 17 or 18 wives!

The only criteria is that you treat them equally and that you have no more than four in total. Other than that, no, there is no criteria.
The islamic way is "everything is allowed, UNLESS it is forbidden", so don't add prohibition unless it really is there to begin with.
Besides, the girl wubs him.

i understand Islam does not stress age when marrying but who says you must have such a big age gap. What could these two ppl possibly have in common it's a vast age difference. The equivalent would be a 17 yr old going into a care home and taking her pick of one of the men there. There's more to this story, cultural issues, tribal, financial. I think it's unfair to focus on the fact they're muslim. Islam requires us to use our common sense and weigh up everything before marrying, age is but one factor, and i'm sure it was one factor in this case too.
Personally i can't see what need a man this old has to marry. It's not like he has no other wife, or children, or even grandchildren. But technically he needs no reason since Allah permits it.
