Bet dieting takes hold in the UK

A new method of losing weight by betting on your own success is gaining popularity in the UK.

Bet dieters join a website and make a commitment to lose a certain amount of weight over a defined period of time.

Then, if they fail to meet their targets, money is withdrawn from their account and paid to a charity of their choice.

The scheme started in the US, but already has more than 1,000 followers in the UK...

People are always quick to cash in on other people's vulnerabilities, but I am glad to see that the money is going inside the pockets of charities as opposed to some fat cat.

They have chosen charities which the people will be repulsed by though, calling it an incentive to do good.

You also have to suggest a referee - someone you know. so its not just about you challenging yourself. others will know.
