Kids having imaginary friends all the time, completely normal. For various reasons. Nothing to do with TV.

Kids are like sponges they may not fully understand what we're saying but they'll take it up and try and imitate.

so y do kids have imaginary friends? i remember i used to have some (kind of) until i was about 9 or so... tel u that freaky story later...

but besides that^, anything kid-related, discuss it here. some members here are married, some have kids already - what is ur advice on bringing up kids?

those of us who are single: what is your outlook in bringing up ur own kids, would u do anything differently to the way ur parents brought u up?

do kids talk 'rubbish', or the pure truth?

is there anything wierd/funny that some kiddo u know has done? share it here... Wink

...and explain y u think kids do what they do. Blum 3 Smile

Good topic Aasiyah

I never had an imaginary friend-only day dreamers have them

according to mum my older sister had one but I didnt

my baby sister is SO funny-I'm crazy about kids when I grow up I'm gonna have LOADS and will be a best friend to all of them

my sis is so cute-I spend all day with her

and make her sleep with me most nights

her name is Sara and whenever she does sumin naughty and we ask her why she did that-

she gives it "it wasnt me it was "NAUGHTY" Sara who did it".....then I usually pull her ponytale- sumtimes make her cry and give it "it wasnt me it was naughty Madheia who did it"

kids are funny I give them that-and very truthful

I think i had an imaginery friend but cnt really remeber but my weird sis defnitely had one, kids are really intelligent lil things, i was watchin my lil niece the other day and she's only 7 months, and she saw my headscarf and was holding it and tryin to put it over her head, it was so cute..its amazin how little they are but how very clever!!

Yes kids are innocent and their brains are like a sponge and they copy what poeple do, good or bad. That is why we should bring them up well and make sure they get a good environment.

hmm, bak to that^^... lol wen i was a kid i was really good at storytelling, and it was an easy way of getting attention from all my friends  (hey, all kids are attention-seekers to some extent or another, ok?!) and so i'd create these characters and carry on about their lifestory and what theyr doing today bla bla until one of my friends figured out that the character wasnt real (that would take days, even weeks sometimes)!! lol. then obviously i couldnt b bothered to continue talking about a fake character, so i'd invent a new one!!!

on a seperate note, seraph was so right when he said kids are like sponges - even from the littlest age, they take in things around them and imitate whatever u do, thats y its important to watch ur behaviour and language when ur with kids!

Thats why its important to be careful around children as they WILL pick up on the things the parents do, everything from their behaviour to their language. e.g. If you curse alot around kids, they will start doing it too.

The thing that agitates me is when people smoke around kids. Thats passive smokeing while they're young and still developing. Could lead to many problems.

Salaam

Most children are pure and innocent their hearts are not yet soiled with worldly sins. Therefore whatever an innocent child says is nearly always Haq (truth).

Preserving their innocence can not be emphasised enough….which can be done by not exposing them to things which they really shouldn’t be exposed to.

I had an over active imagination as a child….I made up stories and even managed to convince myself that they were true. My over active imagination was made worse, by all the fantasy books I was addicted to…… Specifically Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton.

Some things never change though, I still have an over active imagination. Which I find difficult to switch off at times..

Wasalaam

Many adults also have "imaginary" friends.

Or, lets just say that they LIKE to imagine having certain friends. Friends such as Heidi Klum.

Technically this state of mind is known as FANTASY.

Just a waste of time, if you ask me. Even though it may be only ten minutes.

i agree with that^^. lil kids (esp. toddlers, upto the age of around 5) always say the truth. so if u ever come across a dispute, believe the kid! Wink

Your right ofcourse Aasiyah.

Has anyone seen those baby flash cards? They're supposed to teach the baby how to communicate by using sign language rather than words. They're supposed to boost the childs verbal skills as well as their mind power.

no, i dont think i have. but the best way of giving the kid verbal skills is by talking to them - if theyr left in the nursery to babble with kids of their own age, its not like theyr going to progress loads. parents are essential in their childs development...

true, but generally I do not find it funny, just disgusting. give them something else to chew on. preferably something clean!

Well lone year olds do have the habit of sticking anything they can into their mouths.

True when they reach about three they like to wear them.
