Jobs!

I need some inspiration.

For those who work, what do you do and what jobs have you had in the past?

DON'T get a job walking around london all day with a massively heavy bag of CD's trying to sell them to people working in offices, cafes etc.

i made a loss on most days, its certainly NOT cool

Don't just do something! Stand there.

lol! haha, if someone came up to me like that and tried to sell something, i'd probably laugh in his face!

You're probably best looking for a retail job.

Or alternatively in some call center

An uncles shop. Where he pays you in crisps and free drinks Lol

You can work as an examiner; you know the people who walk around in an exam making sure no one cheats and collects the papers in at the end. They get paid pretty well.

Or as a secretary or something similar.

how bout something like a bank, call centre, receptionist or something
or what bout macdonalds? Lol

"ThiS WoRlD Iz A PrIsOn 4 A BeLiVeR AnD PaRaDiSe 4 A NoN-BeLiVeR.........."

Retail, receptionist, call centre, bank work etc is the best option for you whilst you're still studying.

I used to work as a teachers assistant with an agency when I was still doing my degree (it was donkey work - but good money).

I considered translating for billingual patients in my local hospital once too cos it paid around £20 an hour...but didnt get the job cos my Urdu was so crap.

Examining papers brings good money - but you need to have higher level of qualification in a subject that you are marking or a lecturer, or ex/present teacher (plus, marking papers can make you brain dead)

No not the gum drop buttons! – Gingy

no chance. i have never taken the jilbab of and i never will (inshaa'Allah). i love the jilbab.

not even at night or when you shower?

The only thing that annoys me about the jalabi is that it always gets twisted around my legs when im walking otherwise im in agreement its really comfy plus you dont have to worry about whether you top coordinates with your bottom lol.

Your going to find it really difficult to get a job, almost everywork place requires you to wear a uniform.

well you do have to match your hijab! anyway, it depends on what material you buy and how baggy it is. mine are always really flairy so they dont get twisted.

not at all. there are a lot of jilbabies in the workforce but not many in retail.

I know some girls who wear the Jilbab and work in Body Shop, Time (fashion/retail shop), New Look and River Island.

here, you dont even get hijaabis working in those kind of shops, forget jilbabis. only shop u'll find a lot of hijaabied up women is primark but then again, they have really tite clothes and somalion style scarfs on.

am dyin 4 a job in retail so hard 2 find :(.....sales assistant/advisor would do me good 4 part time or weekend job as am in still in college

Rocky

this is not a good time to look for a job in retail, because shops tend to take on extra temporary staff in the run up the Xmas, and then keep on their favorite employees in January.

Alternatively, it may be quite a good time to look for work, because some Uni people may have had temporary jobs and they leave to go back to uni in January.

If you have full reliance on Allah (swt) then He will provide for you, insha'Allah.

Whenever I see a decent job, I dont end up applying cos I have noone as referees Sad

In uni, no1 really got to know the tutors, and the tutors didnt get to know us, we had 3 different tutors every 4 months Fool

Helpppppppppppp

' Nay, verily! With me is my Lord, He will guide me ' {2662}

You should still ask one of your tutors for a reference... it doesnt matter if they got to know you or not. They will give you one off your record. And incase your records not all up to scratch they're still obliged to give you a good reference.

I see.

JazakAllah khair.

A reference these is just like an identity check.
