It's a rebranded 'League of Nations'.

It has a good humanitarian side.

The rest is mostly a waste as the major decisions made have to be supported by the major powers, and not vetoed.

The general assembly can also make decisions, but they are normally of little importance.

In shoprt it can and is used to keep the weak weak, and the powerful powerful. and to give legitimacy to meddling by the major powers.

Iraq war.

It was used to legitimise invasion.

it will be (is being) used to put sanctions on N Korea.

Since the US has veto power, it cannot be used to censor the US.

are you fasting enough? 😂

She is a 'goodwill ambassador'. basically she goes around saying 'Ain't this terrible!'. But hopefully it raises good money to help the needy. It's a good thing.

I think a resolution has been passed tonight. It's the headline on BBC News, but I do not ahve the motivation to read it.

resolution 4 what?

MuslimBro — Sun, 15 Oct 2006 - 01:47

[quote]The resolution:

* Demands North Korea eliminate all its nuclear weapons, weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles

* Requires all countries to prevent the sale or transfer of materials related to Pyongyang's unconventional weapons programmes, as well as large-sized military items such as tanks, missiles and helicopters

* Demands nations freeze funds overseas of people or businesses connected with North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile programs

* Allows nations to inspect "as necessary" cargo moving in and out of North Korea to check for banned items

* Bans export of luxury goods to North Korea

* Calls on Pyongyang to return "without precondition" to stalled six-nation talks on its nuclear programme.

Wasnt the UN created by the EU? And they've never really liked the americans... but then again they do tend to clean up after them.

Beast — Sun, 15 Oct 2006 - 13:30

The EU came after the UN.

Exquisite — Sun, 15 Oct 2006 - 14:04

[color=magenta]my views on the UN well they like to think they have alot of influence but in actual fact they have very little power.

The UN are as useful as a chocolate teapot although in the month of Ramdan some chocolate is useful, but ignoring that point for the moment.

A track record that nobody would be proud of. Constant failure.

We will see that United Nations is going
