The Adab Of Mobile Phones

Salaam

There’s something extremely annoying about some people’s attachment to their mobile phones.

Last night we had guests over, so my brother had to sleep on the floor in my room…my brother and sister kept me up half the night by acting immature and forwarding each other stupid text messages and giggling….and when I confiscated their phones they pulled out some other phone and started to send me stupid text messages until I switched my phone off.

Some people really lack etiquettes with it comes to using their mobile phones…..in school, Uni or work, at meetings or in people’s homes ones phone really should be switched off or at least set on vibrate.

And what’s the emergency anyway? Just under ten years ago we all managed to get on fine without thinking its vital to ask mum what she’s cooked for dinner in the middle of a lecture in Uni.

It’s also annoying when people go through ALL their ring tones on the phone or in a public place. Yeah, I know it’s important to personalize ones phones, but can’t one do this at home instead of the back of the bus?

Mobile phones do not impress people anymore, everyone has one. People need to get over it.

The main issue I have with mobile phones is when it goes off in the middle of speeches or lectures, how rude is that? What’s wrong with setting the phone on vibrate, that option is there for a reason.

I miss at least 90% of my calls, cos I keep it set on silent/vibrate…and if the call is important (and I have credit in my phone-which I usually don't  ) I’ll return the call later on.

I was reading this news report the other day which creeped me out…

Even in Death, the Mobile Rings
Arab News

TAIF, 15 March 2006 — Things got a little creepier than usual recently at King Faisal Hospital’s morgue when an all-too-familiar cell phone jingle emanated from within one of the refrigerated units, the daily Al-Madinah reported. According to the creeped-out morgue staffers interviewed for the story, things were, er, dead quiet in the morgue when suddenly from behind the door of one of the body storage units could be heard somebody trying to call the dead. Much to the relief of the morgue’s staff, the phone was not answered from inside the cooler.

thats what I am like, i normally have my fone on silent/vibrate, people always complain that i dont answer my fone lol.

I hate it when people have the fone on loud esp. when your are in a gathering or lecture, its soo rude. If people have emergencies they can keep their fone on vibrate and leave when necessary, its all about manners.

Its true what you said everyone has a fone, biggie get over it!

My wee bro goes through his ringtones in the house it really ticks me off cuz he does it practically every day! I aint too big on ring tones any more mainly cuz my fone is never on loud.

p.s. creepy story!

you lot will laugh but i had my first mobile when i was 21. When it was fashionable to have a mobile i never saw the big fuss over it, never wanted one. I thght erm we have land lines, what can be soo important that it can't be done through a landline.

I can understand the need in a car, if there's a break down or something, but otherwise i'm still not convinced that they're a necessity. Consumer mad society has made them appear as if they are things we need, when really they're still luxury items.

Not more than a year on i got bored of the mobile. Rarely used it, and if i did i couldn't handle a ten minute call on the mobile coz my ear would start heating up. As it is i suffer from migraines, so i don't need radiation cooking up my brain like an egg. So i eventually got rid of it, and my mates were complaining we can't get a hold of you. I said erm you know my home phone why don't you dial that duh?

Since i got married my husband got two mobiles on some dea,l all calls free any time any network. He says he wants to keep in touch with me if i'm out and about in an emergency. But it's back to the same thing again. i barely use it. 99% of the time it's on vibrate. I think i should get rid of it.

One of the rudest things is if you're out with a mate, you booked out time to be with her and she gets a call. Instead of keeping it short she has a full blown conversation, disregarding you. How blimin' rude is that?

I'm eating, and hubby's mobile rings that really ticks me off big time. Family meal time, nothing can be soo important that it can't wait for like 15 mins?

Hubby told me in mosques..unbelievable. In mosque you shouldn't have your phone on, if you can't remember to off it, it should be confiscated! This brother he forgot to off it, jumuah prayer. Well his phone rang, in haste he tried to off it, pressed the wrong button it went on to speaker phone. So the whole congregation could hear his wife nagging at him. He eventually turned it off, but the damage had already been done.

Heard on the radio about phones going off in church funerals. The mobiles should be removed stamped on and buried aswell!

Or customers who are being served at the till, they get a call rather than saying i'll call you later they proceed to have a long conversation. I think sales assistants should say sorry sir but if you're not ready to be served please step out of the line, i don't wana hear your life story.

There is one cool thing about mobile phones with niqabs. It's not visible to someone passing by, so it looks as if i'm a madwoman talking to myself lool.

Ditto. Unless the call is absolutely vital, talking on the phone in front of your guest is SO unbelievably rude...if I get a call in front of my mates, I usually press "silent" so the ringtone is switched off.

This is basic stuff but seems to be overlooked by many people these days...

Are they really that bad? I never knew they was that annoying, I actally dnt have one? Protective parents n all… they think I’ll jst be using the darm thing for no reason which is too, cos mobiles are addictive sometimes but ive wanted one for ages.

Don't bother getting one, now i wish i hadn't got one, they are a hassle people expect u to have them on and if they are off then they moan why is your fone switched off. Plus it costs loads whether your on contract or pay as you go. So no advantages really.

cant remember but i think my parents finally allowed me to have a mobile when i was 16.

although i think its ridiculous for little kids to have it when there isn't a need, it can come in handy for students who commute or generally spend half the day out of the home, its convenient for ur parents to get in touch with you, and also enables you to keep in touch with your friends without much effort.

overall its really useful, i couldnt do without mine, but ofcourse as with everything else, adab is paramount and should not be forgotten when it comes to techy stuff either.

I only have one fone duhboy

one thing that bugs me about mobiles is when people call u and say hello and then shut up.

i feel like screaming into the phone saying "what? who the hell are u? who do u want to talk to? and what do you want?"-some lazy callers expect u to do all the talking

and who invented the crazy frog ringtone-that is SO 2005 ppl need to grow up and move with the times

btw guys what ringtone do YOU have on ur fones?

Its not a ringtone (i shud read posts properly  ) its the actual "hasbi rabbi" nasheed. I can only send it via blue tooth cuz when i try sending it as a multimedia message it says memory too small, i tried sendin it to my mate and that message came up. When and if i get a new fone i'll try sending it to you.

on one phone, alternate between Raihan - Ya Nabi Salaam Alaika and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - Sajna Tera Bina

on the other, Yusuf Islam - We are your servants or Owais Qadri - Kaliyan Zulfa Walah

what do YOU have?
