I was “inspired”, lets say, by something before to write this blog but then I thought against it. Then I saw Make Me White half way in.
It was shocking to see people who thought they weren’t pretty just because they were dark skinned and their solution to the “problem”? Put loadsss of foundation on and look DEAD or use bleaching creams which are actually harmful to the skin and don’t work anyway.
I think it’s really sad that people wanna change their skin colour to fit into another person’s idea of “beautiful” and try so hard to live upto that image.
I wish they would just accept themselves and be happy with who they are cuz just by changing the skin colour won’t change that. Anyway personality matters more.
Some people seem to be so superficial. All they care about is looks and love pointing out other people’s flaws. And then when they are the one’s being stared at and insulted they get all angry and upset yet don’t think about how others feel when they’re doing the same thing.
TBH I sometimes feel/wish I looked different mostly I guess because of what others say. I know it’s stupid! But sometimes u just can’t avoid the feelings after people point out stuff :/ BUT I have to say generally I’m happy with myself. I may not be the tallest, or the prettiest or whatever but I am who I am.
I would never change anything about myself even if I got the chance. I appreciate that which Allah(swt) has given me Alhamdulillah and I’m quite glad to say, in a totally non-vain way “I like me!”
However the other day a teacher asked us if we could change anything would we? Everyone put their hand up and so did I, reluctantly :|. She saw my reluctance and was like “you don’t have to put ur hand up!” lol. I guess I didn’t wana look vain or anything :|.
Anywayyy I just wanted to say that u don’t need to change yourself to be make yourself more beautiful. Everyone’s beautiful! (don’t listen to Omrow!) and don’t make others feel bad because u think they aren’t.

Very inspiring sis im really awed at your strong will but not everyone is like you. Like you said you were shocked to see people bleaching there skin. How would you feel if people kept advising you to do it? wouldnt it bring your self-esteem down? well people kept doing that to me when i went to my homecountry. But ofcourse i didnt do it because why would i bleach my skin?0_0 its plain stupid. what im trying to say is when people point out certain features you tend to notice it more.
You forget about people with no personality...

completely agree, but sometimes those feelings of wanting to look different are just natural and how u deal with that is what makes the difference, don't get me wrong looks do matter but personality matters more , without personality and good character looks mean would mean nothing to me.
i dont think theres such a thing as no personality
you may find them boring or watever but they'd still have a "personality".
and like i said everyone's beautiful

Don't be fooled by first impressions of a person - especially on the net!!
i understand what you're saying and i've had people point out certain features too which is what makes me feel crap about myself at times too but i dunno what to say u have to just ignore them and concentrate on the positives and always remember Allah(swt) Made You Beautiful!!
i guess its also just in human nature to want what we can't/don't have cuz on the other hand white people love being tanned.

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure another misogynist would find beauty in you.
