The Buraq/ Thestrals???

Lioness of Allah β€”

Bit random but I thought i'll share this with you πŸ˜ƒ

The Buraq is the animal who took the prophet Muhammed ο·Ί to the heavens during the journey of miraj. He is described as this:

Then a white animal which was smaller than a mule and bigger than a donkey was brought to me." ... "The animal's step (was so wide that it) reached the farthest point within the reach of the animal's sight. ..."

β€”Muhammad al-Bukhari, Sahih al-Bukhari[1]

Thestrals are fictional creatures in the Harry Potter books... They look like a horse and have wings ....

Has the ideaa of thestrals come from the Buraq?

what does it matter?

the buraaq is real

HP is wrong on many levels.. another way of saying this: HP sucks.

The Buraaq is a creation of Allah that we can only begin to imagine.

the HP thing is just a product of someone's imagination...

why ask us? ask the author...

Never mind Lilly, shes not usually like this. I hope u can forgive her :p

Gotta say though, dnt think the two are similar in their description, the way I remember the HP books. She may have gotten her inspuration elsewhere, Greek mythology isnt shy on winged horses methinks.

What about Pegasus? The white horse with wings in the Perseus story?
Surely JK Rowling used that inspiration rather than.....Buraq?
i still think anything to do with magic is sick and wrong.

*sulks
Magic'll turn that frown upside down! :p

I dont think JK used any of those things as inspiration actually...
