BBC News reports that an unnamed has pled guilty to 2 counts of terrorism charges related to posessing documents that were likely to be of use to a person preparing or committing an act of terrorism.

This is linked to the arrest of a who had previously pleaded guilty to terrorism charges.

There are no specifics, and the article stated that no evidence was found that the girl was aware or played any part in the Anzac Day plot or any plan to harm others or incite terrorism in the UK or elsewhere, the court was told.

She had ad possession of the anarchist's cookbook 2000 (something older readers who were internet aware would hae heard of before it became a criminal offence to be intrigued by such material - especially if you are a Muslim).

While sentencing has not yet occurred, the judge has promised her some time behind bars.

This for someone there is no evidence or allegation that she ever intended or tried to take part in any terrorist related activity.

Once again, this should be contrasted with the case of Michael Piggin, who was "...planning to carry out a murderous attack on his former school, a cinema, a mosque and a council office near his home in the Midlands..." .

We cant be considered a part of one nation if the law is applied differently to us.

But she pleaded guilty? I guess she could've been forced to or something...

Sentencing is still the choice of the judge.

I dont know what else she had, but the anarchists cookbook is what every teenager with the internet had 15 years ago.

I think that due to the focus of the application of the laws, Muslims are far far far more likely to be prosecuted under them than anyone else.

We have had fairly major plots for mass murder foiled in the UK where because the perpetrators were not Muslims, the media furore and the sentencing were both a lot lighter than would have been expected if they were Muslims.

This is linked to the arrest of a 14 year old boy from Blackburn (link is external) who had previously pleaded guilty to terrorism charges.

But this boy had been linked to inciting a man to commit an attack on ANZAC day in Australia? As for the Anarchist cook book, this as been superseded by more violent books. So I am in agreement there.

Could be simply a ruse by the judge to frighten her. So as to help her mend her ways? after all she is only a young girl and if it stops her from going to Syria later. Then little harm is done.

Once again, this should be contrasted with the case of Michael Piggin, who was "...planning to carry out a murderous attack on his former school, a cinema, a mosque and a council office near his home in the Midlands..." walked free from court when the jury at a second trial failed to reach a verdict.

Michael Piggin trial collapses after jury fails to reach verdicts

This article was amended on 2 June 2014. An earlier version referred to Piggin walking free from court. He did in fact return to custody, where he will remain until sentencing.

We cant be considered a part of one nation if the law is applied differently to us.

I would agree the law is being applied differently to Muslims. In Northern Ireland when the troubles was at its height The Emergency Powers Act was invoked, which included amongst other things, being held without trial [indefinitely] some suspected IRA and UDA terrorists where held for years.

We have had fairly major plots for mass murder foiled in the UK where because the perpetrators were not Muslims, the media furore and the sentencing were both a lot lighter than would have been expected if they were Muslims.

I Googled “major plots for mass murder foiled in the UK”. For 2014 and 2015. and found seven [07] by Muslims and three [03] by non-Muslims.

Robert Cottage and David Bolus Jackson

Both men were cleared on 12 July of conspiracy to cause explosions after the judge dismissed the jury,[13] although Cottage was found guilty of possessing chemicals unlawfully and sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment.

24 July 2015; Britain’s elite forces have helped thwart a plan to launch mass suicide bomb attacks against Westerners in Turkey. The country’s counter-terror police seized 250 suspects in dawn raids, aided by the SAS

Parents of Muslim fanatic who died in Syria after bragging about his ‘5-star jihad’ are released on bail after arrest on suspicion of Syria related terror offences

So was  given the benefit of the doubt, released on bail and still went Syria. I would say that the judicial system is being fair and even handed as possible.

I wonder how many red flags I raised while searching for "anarchist's cookbook" to accompany the blog...

So i stick to my original augument, The Judge just wanted to give the girl a shock.

We will see when the sentence comes down.
